Hi Everyone Well, I have lizards and I have had a snake or two :'(now I am going to try my luck with a turtle! I got an adult painted turtle from a friend of mine and I have a 55 gal tank for the little guy it is about 6 to 7 inches around and he looks like a healthy turtle. So tonight and the rest of the week I will be setting up the tank and getting everything that is needed for the little guy, plus working on Marie’s enclosure. I know I should have got all the stuff before I got the guy, but I have most of it and working on the rest. Plus it was a last minute thing. So I am reading up on turtles now like I did when I had my snakes. But being new to turtles I will be asking for help from the Forum and anyone that has turtles!!!! Patrick

Wonderful, welcome to the world of turtles. 10.0 UVB is great, the production of this bulb made it come to be the new turtle bulb, Reptisun 5.0 used to be 'the turtle bulb'. How deep are you keeping it? Congradulations! Does this turtle have a name?

Denise, I really think thats a red-eared slider, not a painted like Patrick stated above. I use to have 2 painteds and I have seen many pictures of them, but I'm pretty sure thats a red-eared. This looks like Turtle's head and this is a red-eared www.chelonia.org/TscriptaelegansJG1.jpg

Yes I believe he is a red-eared slider also...Thanks Guy's!
Collin, I don't think it is a 501 turtle filter. It says Fluval 204 multi-stage filter on the box. Thanks again.

Gotcha. The fountain-looking rain-type-simulator-ma-jig looked kind of like the one on the 501 turtle filter. Except that I just realized that yours is under water as opposed to the 501. Heh. My mistake.

Well Collin I think it's supposed to be above water also. LOL But it's too noisy..LOL It does seem to work really well though. I didn't know till I checked the box. Thanks

Heh. Yeah, I hate hearing the filter at night, it keeps me up. If all else fails, check the box. Nice turtle.

That won't be big enough for them as adults, not big enough for one either.
