no iguanas do not have a smell to them, although if you dont clean there cage it can get pretty stinky as some are not so easy to train in using a certain area to use the bathroom like a box with newspaper or tub of water, if they was trained it could be easier to remove and clean.
but like i said, iguanas dont have a smell to them.
Iguana's themselfs don't have an off pressing odor like a ferret or something along that line. When there skin gets wet and you are very close to it (2" approx) there skin smells like wet lizard. Other than that you are safe of no body odor on the iguana. Iguana poop/urates do smell. Not totally offensive... but need to be cleaned at least every other day. They can also be tub/litter trained. NEVER USE LITTER FOR CATS.... Water or news papers folded are acceptable. Iguana's naturally want to poop in water.... so offering a rubbermaid tub or litter box bottom are ideal. Just put about 1" of water in it... or a few news papers to cover the whole bottom and its good to go. If you use water... it gets rank pretty quick if you don't change it out every day. News papers I just fold up and throw away and replace with new daily.
And Welcome to the world of Iguana research The main things that are important to iguana's are... DIET, UV requirements and Temperatures. As long as you are educated on this then you shouldn't have any suprises.
Iguana's do suffer from some diseases... but they are usually caused by poor care by the owner... and the owner not knowing the proper information. We will do our best to help you out... I'm glad your doing your homework... I am also a forever home!
