HELP

I have only put a small amount of mealies and supers in a bowl at the bottom of her cage. I am trying to use them to fatten her up a little. She was purchased as a baby so Im not sure if she will eat any veggies due to that not ever being apart of her diet. I will try it out anyway. If she doesnt then Im sure the crickets will benefit from it too. Its looking a bit different today because she isnt gaining as much weight as I like but hopefully she will soon. The bone structure isnt showing as bad as it was but it still shows enough for me to get worried. I didnt take her to the vet because I dont have the money right now for that. I also dont want to risk her getting stressed out on that trip. The herp vet we have actually told me that he has seen alot of reptiles and that mine look great compared to what he has seen. He was snapping pictures left and right when I took my Beardies in there. He actually offered me a job helping take care of sick reptiles but I had to turn him down because there just isnt enought time for me to work at school and go to school and take care of a bunch of sick animals that need alot of care and time. The sites you gave me were helpful but it was nothing I didnt already know about them except feeding greens. Thanks for the help

good good, and it will take a few weeks for her to show dramatic improvement. Just make sure she is eating gutloaded insects and you shouldn't have any problems Yes my vets have said the same things to me. Too bad the local one doesn't need any help or I'd be there in a heart beat! The one a good hour from here would let me help out, but thats really 2 hours at least of driving plus gas that I don't have to waste right now. I have lots to take care of around here So just keep me posted and if you need anything you can still email me. Just use chamzilla@yahoo.com and I will help you as soon as I can. So keep up the good work and hopefully see more photos' soon

Hey Stephanie here are some pics I took last night of the Chameleon. I have a fresh order of crickets for her. I bought 1000 of them so I can gutload them so she can get more healthy. Thanks for the help. Sorry about the huge close up.

yes she is looking a little better She's obviouly comfortable with you to. It doesn't hurt to take them outside for a few hours a day either. Some sun is better than none, even with UV lights keep up the good work and keep me posted once a week at least on her progress. It wouldn't hurt for you to buy a small kitchen scale to weigh her either. They are like 5$ at walmart in the kitchen department. There used for weighing fruit or whatever. Ok talk soon

Well I have bad news. She died today and I am a little upset. She had a vet visit scheduled. He was even coming to the house for the visit but it was too late. He was coming Thursday and it was too late. Sorry to break the bad news. I did all I could for her but such malnutrition was evidence enough to tell she wasnt doing well.

Sorry for your loss Zach, but yes sometimes these things happen. As this is why if you rescue an animal you need to keep it in your possession until it is healthy enough to venture out. That way you know you did all you could to care for it. But sometimes we can't help even if our hearts are in the best places. Keep your chin up Zach, you tried your best and I'm sure she thanked you for that

If she is still not putting on anjy noticeable weight you may want to try waxworms. They are on the fatty side.
It's always good to get a vet's opinion, make sure its a qualified ARAV vet.
