Well most of my herps are doing okay. My gecko has MBD but I am treating that with extra calcium supplements from cuttlebone that has been coated on crickets and I've given him a dish of it as well. He did not have a serious case and I caught it just in time to prevent it from going further. So hopefully he'll be all better in a few months.

What about UVB? Not sure what UVB requirements for a gecko are.

Geckos can handle small amounts of UVB, say from a 24" tube, which will help with the MBD.
Also, I heard that cuttlebone (being the actual bone of a fish), can contain some things other than calcium that may be harmful to your reptile. Better to use just human-grade calcium carbonate.

Glad that all your gang is doing well. I guess you are busy with all those eggs and hatchlings. I bet the babies are adorable.

He is a Hemithiconyx caudicintus (African Fat-Tail). I've used UVB all his life as a daytime light and I use a red heat lamp continously. I haven't been able to find any calcium carbonate so I'm using cuttlebone which is actually the ridgid structure inside squids and cuttlefish that forms their shape.

Calcium Carbonate is found in pill form in a pharmacy. You'll find it in the vitamin and mineral section. Get the kind without anything else (NO vitamin D). Ask the pharmacist if you can't figure what to get. Then you just crush the pill and use a pinch. Human grade is great because it has to meet FDA standards where as animal vitamins and minerals do not.

I'm taking my gecko to a very good pet store. Trust me the people there know what they are doing and I trust them with my animals. I'll take him there and get him properly sexed, looked at, and see if anything needs to be added to his diet.
