Hi all, I have a hatchling/juvie CWD. She is about 7 inches long from snout to tail. Her jowls are starting to come in and her head is takeing on a boxy shape compared to the roundness it was when I got her. Lately I have noticed that she does a puffing action with her throat almost looks like and exaggerated gulping action. Is this an indicator of anything you know of? I am like hyper sensitive to her evrey behavior change and would like to know. Thanks for the attention to this matter

Throat puffing, for lack of a better word, is telling you that they are pi**ed off. Or trying to impress the ladies.

Have a good feeling your "she" just might be a "he". Just wait till the first time you reach for your dragon and the rear leg comes up and the mouth opens wide hehehe boy does AWOL ( my dragon) ever look mean when he does that and it seems he only does it with me, not even my 100 pound pup provokes this action of him.

I think I might think twice about reaching for a dragon Awols size if I seen a head like that open a mouth full of sharp pointy teeth As far as an update: Pooka still does this from time to time, usually to show her disdain for being sprayed in the face. Now, it appears to be more of an exaggerated swallowing action then an actual throat puff though. But it always seems to be an action showing she didn't like waht I just did. ;D

I had AWOL out of his tank last night and would not stop with the throat puffing and hard swallowing until I put him back in the tank and then he just wanted back out.
15 minutes I fed him about 20 giant mealworm puppa and he seemed to calm down but I can tell he is mad at me for missing his weekend mice feeding.
