Hey all...Help!...
Mrs. Wiggles is having the worse time with this shed. The first time she shed, she only shed part of her tail. Now she is icky all over with dried skin. I get her out and rub her down and use the spray shed aid. It seems to help some but not completely. I know the humidity is not all that great. We are going to change the habitat this weekend to make it better for her. She also has a new room mate. They seem to love each other and often are running around playing. Is the shedding hard for a water dragon, or actually can anyone else tell me what they go through and what to expect.
Any info would be great...thanks...i'll post new pics when we get some taken..

WDs should not have bad sheds. They should have better humidity than that. Filling a large gladlock dish (or setting up an automated misting system like what is being discussed in the iguana forum) would help immensely! Adding a bubble stone will help attract the WD to it. Mine LOVED the bubbles. Do you ever give it baths? This would also help. Give it a bath in 90 degree water for about 20 mins. You will be amazed at the difference this will make. Are you sure the WDs are "running around and playing"? This is not normal behavior. WDs do not play chase for fun. This is more than likely a territorial issue and this is serious. One can become seriously ill and even die as a result. Are you very sure of the sexes? Females can be territorial to other females as much as males to males. They're more communal than iguanas, but they can still have their differences. Did you keep the new one in quarantine for a time? New reptile members should be held in quarantine for about 3 months before introducing to the general population... . Reptiles are very good at hiding illness and the time given can allow you to make sure nothing harmful is passed to the others. The shedding is only hard on a WD if the humidity is not what it should be. Even a good shed can make them a little irritable. It seems to be a bit itchy...I guess much like us and a sunburn. No big deal and something they just do. It's definitely a good thing. WDs should shed quite often while growing to their full length. At least once a month... ;D
