Hey everyone
Well I purchase my first snake yesterday it is an Amazon Tree Boa I purchased it in PA. And brought it home now I have a good idea on what to feed it but where to find the food here in Cleveland. I will try a local pet store that I know of to see if they sell frozen pinkies cross your fingers because this little guy has to eat come tomorrow and I hope he will if not I will try again in another 48 hrs and then if he doesn’t I found a could of places on the web with some tips to make him/her eat. Now if you guy know of any places here in my town or on the web were I can get some food for this guy let me know.
Thanks Patrick

Put in your state and city, and you'll get all the pet and feed stores in your area. Most pet stores sell pinkies. We purchased a corn snake from the reptile show in Little Rock last weekend and we gave its first pinkie Wednesday. We were told not to feed it in its cage, so it would not think that every time we put our hands in its cage we had food and bite us. www.switchboard.com/Pet_Stores/Fort_Smith/AR/62-/yellowpages.htm

Congrads on your new addition!! You can either stick the frozen mouse in a plastic bad and stick that in warm water or you can just leave it our and let it defrost. But dont listen to the 2-3 mins crap, just as long as the mouse is defrosted!
GOOD LUCK!

Good luck with the new critter. I have an ATB and it can be a handful. I have never goten mine to eat F/T mice. I named mine Marcinko, after the exnay seal and author of the "Rouge Warrior" books. Since they are both, big mean and ugly, I figured the name fit. I never handle mine and I'm very cautious when opening the cage door. He can strike from the very back of the cage and he is quick. He usually stays in his tree and snatches the mice from the floor. He is now close to 5 feet long and alot more fun to watch than handle. Heck, I have seen rock pythons with better temperments. But he is mine and I love him because he is what he is. The same goes for my blackthroat, she isn't anything close to being friendly. She's not mean, she's just being a monitor. If you can find live pinkies, I would try those to get yours eating and settled. If it will eat F/T then great.

Hi Collin, I am glad to see you putting some hieght to the cage. You do need to add some more floor space. I have a large water tub on the floor that I have seen my ATB swim in on occasions. Yes, they are primarily tree dwellers, they will crawl around the floor in search of food, or just because they feel like it. My cage is 3X3X4 with a fake tree I found at walmart in the back and the water tub underneath the tree. The reason for the water under the tree? Glad you asked. The snake eats, climbs in the tree and poops. The poop falls in the water and I just dump it and add clean water. I believe in easy clean ups.

Very god. I will be putting numerous shelves in the cage as well. There will be the main shelf about 1' from the top, another one a bit lower, one at about 3' on the side, and whatever else I can throw in there. I will be sure to make sure a water tub is below any trees I might her for the cage. Thanks Scott.

Have you had it checked by a qualified vet? It might be dehyderated. Can you see skin folds? If so, take it to the vet and get some fluids in it. A dehyderated reptile "won't" eat.
