i have barney in a 40 gallon tank right now but want to build a larger one for him. i saw the post that some of u put up with different ways to build them, and am planning on starting his in my walk in closet, the question is when i get it done will the big move be stressful for him and if so what can i do to make it easier for him? right know tail and all he's only about a foot long is that normal or should he be bigger by now? he will be a year old the end of this month. and for now is that a good size tank for him untill i can get his new one done? sorry for such a long question or questions but any and all suggestions will be greatly appricated thanks (i hope i did the pic right that time)

things I did for easing transition of switching enclosures...
make sure the new enclosure is entirely set up lights, heat, humidity etc... Offer them their comfort things they have in their original enclosure.... basically then give them time to make the adjustment...
There may be some stress in the new environment, but I know when I moved Little Foot from her reptarium to a tank this winter to help with the heat issues there really was no stress, I just set the entire thing up with all her own fixtures and such and then moved her, she really seemed to like the move... Now I have recently seperated my two baby rescues and the one that went to the new tank seemed to be a little less active for a bit but she has maintained eating and all that I think the higher heat in the new tank caused the less active state so I raised the light and now all is set and seems to be going well...
As long as there isn't a lot of need to disturb them for the first few days or so other than to feed them and whatever basic care is needed things should go smoothly for the move... hope when you get the new enclosure set up that you will post some pics of it!!

Hello Kessa
Well Elizabeth covered it but the tank you have Barney in should be ok for now but you will be need a new enclosure very soon so the quicker you get started the better Barney will be. And when I move Miss Jr. in to her New Enclosure she didn’t eat for a couple of day but after she got used to it she started eating normal. Mr. Worf went from a 4ft by 3ft high Dog cage and from NY. And moved into his own Bedroom he did not eat for at less 10 days. But Quazi she took to her New Enclosure like she was the queen and never looked back it didn’t bother her at all so I think it all depends on the iggy is what I am trying to say. But Good Luck and if you need and help just let us know we will be more then happy to help.
