before i begin my adventure into building this habitat i have a question for you pros out there. first, i had thought about making the enclosure completely out of plexiglass with steel runners and the front split to allow for a door that would be held shut using magnets. using 1/4 in plexi i ran into a problem along in my thought process... i want to put a shelf in it. how thick of plexi would i have to use in order to get a good mount for a basking shelf. another question.. i am planning on putting a mister in this habitat. the shelf itself cannot be made of wood because obviously wood will obsorb moisture and cause mildewing. what kind of a shelf should i look at. one more... how can i go about mounting the lights where a uvb bulb can be unobstructed yet unfiltered (the other ones as well) without evaporate from the mister possibly collecting and causeing a short/fire? or is this something that won't really be an issue? ok my brain hurts for now. thanks for any help.

I use those closet wire shelves. I have a mister and my enclosure is wood but I do not have a problem with mildew. That is going to be a costly undertaking using all that Plexiglas. Actually I haven't heard of anyone making one that way. Most use a combination of wood, Plexiglas and wire mess.

Yes I do agree with Marie that will be costly but the Wire shelving is the best to use but I use wood in mine and I do not have that problem with mildew I use indoor outdoor carpeting with the rubber backing but I would do Wood and plexi as well cheaper and more sturdy. If you need any help Just Ask!!!
