I just wanted to let you all know that Miss Zak gave up the fight at 11:15 am this morning. Jon and I were up with her most of the night just trying to keep her comfortable and let her know that we were there for her. She passed in my arms. She lived a long and happy life for 16 years. Jon and I will deeply miss her. Words can not express how empty life will be with out her. Rest in peace my beautiful Miss Zak. [/img] Jon and Debbie

Awwwe Deb...:-(
She had it pretty darned good with you and Jon. An ig could not aske for better parents. She'll be basking with Iggy until the time is right now. Bam-Bam has a big hole to fill. Has Bam-Bam's behavior changed without Miss Zak there? I know they had their own enclosures...but sometimes they still become accustomed to each other.

So sorry to hear that Debbie,
Was I missing something that she was sick or something? Or had she just been acting different. My memory has been bad lately as I've had many things on my mind. I am very glad you were there with her when she passed. I had just went through the same thing with my poor little hedgehog with cancer on the 5th. They are on the bridge together along with all there other friends and our lost loved ones.
I know that you gave her the BEST life you could possibly give her and she is very greatfull for that. She will always be in your heart and Bam-Bam will miss her to.

Thank you all for your words of comfort. As far as we knew, Miss Zak was not sick. She just quit eating and refused to let us force feed her. Her attitude did not change and she was her regular old self. I just think that she decided that she was ready to go.
Bam-Bam still sits on her perch and just stares at Miss Zak's enclosure and I think she does miss her. They faced each other and were always bobbing at each other, carring on their own little conversations.
We should be getting her ashes back sometime this week and we will place her along side of Iggy.

It's sad to hear she has passed. I wish you the best and hope you feel better soon. I'm sure she has gone on to a better place. No more suffering. I hope your other ig's are not too sad she is gone.

Deb, I'm so very sorry to hear about Miss Zak. I can't imagine your loss, but rest assure that Miss Zak had a very happy and healthy life with you and Jon. I have no doubt that the two of you were answers to her iggy prayers and that she loved you as deeply as you love her. She now sits above with our other lost beloved friends. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.
Dawn
