Hi Everyone,
I know this is not a reptile, but I recently lost one of my parrots and it's been really hard. I've not been online much and it's been really difficult. Dagny was an African Senegal and I had her for 17 years. We do not know how old she was when we got her so I don't know her exact age. The vet told us when we got her that she was an adult but fairly young. She had a lot of health problems when we first got her but she lived a very healthy live after that. I was playing with her in the shower when she she suddenly passed away of an apparent stroke. I did not have a necropsy done because it was pretty obvious what it was and I have too many other big vet bills right now. A necropsy wasn't going to bring her back...

Susan...
She was lucky to have you...as are all of your babies. You gave her a life that she thrived under. You gave her 17 years of love and she was able to take that with her...:-)
May the whisper of her voice always tickle the corners of your thoughts...:-)
She'll be waiting for you, Susan.

Thank you, Veronica. It's been really difficult. Yesterday morning for example, during our morning animal routine, I asked my dd to take care of Foster (the thingyatoo) and to get Bandit's (the Amazon) dishes. I was about to say I'd get Dagny when I caught my self open-mouthed to speak. I just shook my head and changed it to, "I'll get the iggy dishes." I guess it takes longer than a couple of weeks to change 17 years of habit. <sigh>

I know it's a little early in the year, but I have often made ornaments of our extra special ones to go on the Christmas tree. This way they can still share a little bit of the magic they helped bring into our home...:-)

What a beautiful idea. We do have an ornament in the shape of a dog bone that says Selene. That was our first greyhound. She will forever be missed. Dogs life spans are way too short. It was actually her ornament while she was still alive and it is one of the few things we were able to save from the attic of our old house. Now it goes on the tree in memory. I think I will definitely come up with a special memorial ornament for Dagny! Thanks Veronica!
