Housing/Furnishing
When it come to Water Dragons they are climbers and need height in their enclosure plus they will need length as well. The average size of the enclosure should 6ft wide 6ft high and 3ft. deep because these guys will get to be about 3 feet long females a little smaller
Water Dragons can be kept together but watch out for the female they can be the dominant ones.
For flooring here are some ideas for you to use
1. Butcher paper
2. Newspaper
3. Tile
4. Indoor/Outdoor carpeting
5. Top soil/sand mixture (research these because you will have to watch what top soil you use)
6. Old bed sheets
And a couple more I recommend you research the flooring so it is suitable for you!
Now there is some other furnishing you can add and here are some of them
1. Branches
2. Plants (fake or real Research the Real ones)
3. And a hiding spot or two
Lighting/Temperatures
Ok they need UVA/UVB lighting so you will have to provide this as well. Like most captive reptiles they do not get the natural sun light on a regular basics! So here is what you can use for UVB lighting:
1. Iguana light 5.0
2. Reptisun 5.0
3. Vitalight
Now on heating and temps your dragons are going to need one or to basking areas for them to basked in. The bulb for this can be
1. Zoo meds basking lamp
2. A regular household lamp
3. Or a flood lamp
You will have to experiment on the wattage because the basking spot should be about 90 degree Fahrenheit. The other temps you will have to watch is the all around enclosure temp that should be in the 85 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit and at nighttime the temps should not drop under 75 degrees Fahrenheit the best temps for night is between 75 and 80 degrees all around now there is a couple of ways you can do these
1. CHE Heater (Ceramic Heater Emitter)
2. Reptile night lamps (Red or Blue)
You will have to experiment with the wattage to get it right!
Water/Humidity
Now these guys like the water so it would be a good idea to put a cat litter pan with water in it. So they can swim in and poop in. the water should take ups about 1/3 of the enclosure and changed everyday and washed.
Ok on the Humidity part the humidity has to be pretty high like about 80% the way you can do this is
1. Water in a tub
2. Misting the enclosure a couple of times a day
3. Live plants helps (research live plants first)
Feeding
Ok these guys like animals to eat and some veggies so here is what you can feed them
1. Crickets (do not feed little dragons adult crickets)
2. Earth worms
3. Mealworms
4. Feeder fish (occasionally)
5. Pinky and fuzzy’s (very occasionally)
6. Veggies (Research the Veggies)
Water Dragons are not support to be fat so you will have to watch what you feed them!
This is Just some basic care on them that I have read if there is anything at you would like to add. Please feel free to E-mail me or pm me on this, and I will add it after I research it.
With any reptile as a pet please make sure when you are feeding them that they get a calcium supplement and be sure you get a good herp vet for your guys!
