At least that is what it sounded like when I came out of the iguanas' garage. I heard this terrible howling like someone was torturing a cat. I went to find it. I came to a car and realized the cat was not being tortured. I called for it and it came rushing out making the worse meowing noise I ever heard since my cat Mouthy. The only way I could get it to shut up was to pet it so I sat in the driveway petting it. It was a long hair older male black kitten. It decided that I was his. It followed me howling everytime I stepped out the door. I didn't even feed it. But it got fat from everyone else in the complex feeding it. It was not ever hungry for food but was starving for attention which I didn't have time to give--I had 2 sick iguanas. As friendly as he was I knew that he would eventually get killed by some sick person. So I asked around and Roger the maintenance worker said his wife loved black cats but they could only take it if it was neutered. Well it also had a bad infestation of mites on its ears and head. So I made an appointment to get him snipped at a low cost spaying/neutering place. I then took him to a vet that had a coupon in the phone book for a free exam. Well he needed shots for the mites. I had him tested for FIV/Leukemia. Then had its normal vaccinations, FIV/Leukemia vaccination, and rabies vaccinations. His free exam ended up costing $130. Then there was the neutering and that was another $45. But he was going to get to have a home. They came and got him after his mites completely died off. He is now torturing the two older cats in his new home. He is extremely happy. They named him Shadow because he follows everyone. The other picture is a picture of the San Diego sky. Marie

I grew up with stray cats but could never give them any care except to feed them. My mom thought they had all left one summer when we had to go to our grandparents. But the very next day after getting home they were all waiting for me to come out--made my mom mad.

WOW I never saw this post till now. MMM I don't think if I did see it before that I replied to it, although I should have. That is a very great thing you did Marie. I know you are a very selfless person when it comes to animals Which I am also the same way. As you know all of my animals are rescues except two. Flick and Caterpiller. I used to do the same things when I was younger and I had my own job and I didn't have to take care of my mom as much. I have placed numerous animals in great forever homes and I am soooo glad I met you and that you are a great person I wondered in your avatars where that cat was from. Good job Marie Steph

Well I may have to take the cat back and bring it with me on the move. Their older female cat has decided that she want's him gone and he is terrified to come home. He is staying away days on end and getting skinny. They love the cat though and trying to keep it. If I bring it, I might have to put him in the car with the windows cracked. He'd really stress Dragon out if he was in the truck with us.
