Now tell me if these look like door to door salesmen? Maybe National Geographic Society? What the heck are they doing knocking on my door! Yes it is snowing here today. Yes on March 23 and the day before yesterday it was 43F here. AAHHHH I wish spring would fight off this snow! So since they were very persistant I gave them some bird seed, they have been banging on the door for 3 days now, So today I decided to make them stop! They are trying to get the plants on the inside. Too bad they keep picking the Cactus!

I have had a Blue Jay do the same thing. The only thign I could think of is that they where pecking at their reflection. Looks like you might have added on to your collection of animals.

lol!! back home in arizona, there has been the same pair of medium sized brown birds trying to get into the sliding glass door for about EIGHT YEARS!! they wont stop! they have even taught their babies to do it! so there are about 10 birds who want to get inside! i know one of the original birds is still there- he was missing a toe 8 years ago, and is missing the same toe still! i would lay on the floor with my nose against the door and watch them for hours, lol

When I was a kid we had a mallard duck land in our back yard. He was sickly. He had mud and gunk all in his bill and throat. Dad cleaned out the mud and gunk. He said that Pete (we named him) could stay untill he got better. Pete got better but thought that our place was as good as any and would not go. The last straw was when he walked through some fresh cement that my Dad had just laid for our porch. He was taken off to a pond and released. Well have you ever had that neighbor that you just want to go away and wouldn’t I sure did. When I was living here in Mississippi, I made the mistake of allowing a neighbor borrow my phone one time. He kept coming back to borrow my phone and would stay even after he finished his calls. When it got cold he started commenting that my place was cold. He finally asked me why I didn't turn the heat on and I told him that I didn't need it. He said that he was cold and I should heat my place for my company. I told him he wasn't my company and I wasn't going to pay money to heat my place for him--told him he could go back to his place. He finally got the hint. Marie

HA HA HA!! They are persistent aren't they!! Just didn't know what to do with themselves and the hard ground and the snow... Actually Elizabeth.. Canadian Geese like these here stick around for a long time before heading south and can often be seen sitting out on the ice in a few of our rivers and also in some of the farmers feilds getting fattened up for the flight. This year the weather has been so inconsistent that they have never really left the area, might move a few blocks down and stop again.

Actually this pair is starting to nest. Most geese around here have gone to there nesting grounds. So I guess these two have picked our back yard. I think it will be cute to see tiny geese running around. I keep feeding the parents now since they destroyed the screen door. I don't feed them at all near the house I feed them at least 200feet from the house. The goose poop is discusting! Supposedly its good fertalizer though! Maybe the grass will actually grow back there now! I will post future pics if they nest and have young

We had an elephant come to our back door when I was a kid. Some noise from the back yard woke my sister and she went to the back room. She then ran to my parent's room yelling she saw an elephant in the back yard. My Dad got up and yes there was a real live elephant at the door--a baby elephant. Turned out that one of the San Diego Zoo workers lived next door. They were doing something to the petting zoo at that time and our neighbor took some of the animals home to keep. The elephant had gotten through the fence. We had various different baby animals in our back yard for the next few days until they got taken back to the zoo.

AHHHHH I wish things in my back yard were so exciting as an elephant! We once had a mountain lion that escaped from a traveling zoo or something.
Other than that is just the uaual, Raccoon, Opossum, Goose, Duck, Muskrat, Birds, Hawks, Snakes, Turtles, Rabbits, Phesants. And some other regular stuff!
These geese are still here though, they attacked my brother in law the other day and drew blood on his knuckle and gave him a bruise on his forarm.
They tried to attack my cousin also today! But they are like alarm clocks too! If someone or something comes into the yard when were sleeping we know it! They start honking and stuff. Silly geese!

Today I saw the nicest thing.... There is a large Costco that went in a few years ago and my guess displaced quite a few wild animals... Anyway there were two Canadian Geese that decided to persist in placing their nest in their parking lot... So they are in a nice median that has small plants and trees etc... Anyway the people there have roped off the median to keep people from walking thru their where she is sitting on her little nest... They put out a big pan of water and a pan of food for them... Now I am sure they would much prefer their habitat back the way it was but since we know that isn't happening I thought it was a nice gesture for the people to care for them as they have!
Now as to the elephant I would have been in heaven... As a kid I asked for a baby elephant so many years for Christmas!! I must just have had the wrong neighbors!!

Hey everyone, just an update on the geese.
Well they have been gone for 2 days now. They are hiding out at the neighbours house. I'm sure they will chase them away though, they don't like the geese eating all the baby pond stuff.
So I'm sure they will be back shortly. I have some updated pictures so I post them.
