Hello everyone
I am a new iguana owner and new to this site. I have joined this site to help me out with my trials and tribulations with my newly aquired rescue ROCK ZILLA he is about 4.5feet long and is a male of course.
I rescued him from a house I visited and hoped that I could give him a better life. I've read Iguana's for dummies and read it everyday, if I need to know something. ROCK came from a place where he had plain aquarium bulbs as his light source and for his heat source he had household lightbulbs. The overall temperature in his tank was maybe 65degrees F. He also had woodchips in the bottom of the tank to collect any waist or spilled water or food. He was fed dog food and plain lettuce. He was so depressed it was unbelievable. He'd just lay there and move his eyes. This was once an abused free roaming iguana before the last person who had him.
As its has been almost 2 weeks since I aquired him his color has improved very much. He is now at least green with orange instead of light and dark grey. I feed him the proper greens and treats even though he doesn't like to eat very much. But that is changing everyday. One thing he does like is showers and drinking water. He loves water. I take him out for at least an hour a day and every day he moves more and more. The day he didn't have the strength to move at all. So he has his chair in the living room with a heat pad under it so he doesn't get cold then when he's had enough he comes up to me and I put him back. When we are in the enclosure room he goes back in all on his own.
Well I'm sure I've told everyone just about everything there is to know about him!
So I look forward to all your advice and suggestions to come. I own a lot of other exotics as well as dogs and cats which have all been rescued. So maybe I can answer a few questions or give some suggestions to help you out to.
Looking forward to talking with all of you,
ChamZilla80 and ROCK ZILLA
