I am new to boards and forums. I accidently got on the Green Iguana Society message board and have posted there for about 6 to 8 weeks. Patrick left this link there and that is how I ended up here.
I have a 16 month male and two 11 year old females.
I got the females from a friend who bought them. Baby was brought in the computer store because a man's wife told him to either get rid of it or not to come back. He should have kept the iguana because later we found out that he got a divorce. The pet store was closed but Eric's computer store was still open. So he asked Eric to buy her. He did. I was helping by doing his books for him at the time. He just put her on a shelf and was going to let her wander. I couldn't help but interfere. I went to the petstore the next day and got a book--which had a lot of bad information. Soon after that some boys brought Dragon in the store in a paper bag. They said it was a male and she acted aggressive like a male--turned out she was abused. She also had a twisted back and bent tail--MBD deformities (lots of vet bills over the last 9 years). Part of her tail had been broken and when it grew back they thought it would be neat to pierce it. Eric bought her and I took up caring for her also. It took me a month or two to tame Dragon but she is now the sweetest. She lets me hug and pet her anytime. Both Baby and Dragon get along great together and been together for 9 years. Eventually Eric gave them to me officially and I have had them since.
I had Sampson and Lady also. Both I got through the president of San Diego Herpetalogical Society. He had seen Dragon and Baby in there display case enclosure and so I didn't think anything about keeping igs together. But the only time I had problems is when Sampson had his seasons. Then I would ban him from the enclosure and let him free roam in the room. He only got aggressive if he seen that nasty mean male in the mirror. I banned him because he couldn't take no for an answer from the females. When he wasn't in season they all could leave the enclosure during the day. I worked at night and so was home during the day when they were active.
I loss Lady after an operation on an abcess behind her eye. I loss Sampson to kidney failure--he had been a junk food eater before I got him. Also there was the stress of his season and I think he was mourning because he thought the other two were gone. I had to move in with a dear elderly woman whose husband had just died and couldn't have them in her house. I had been helping them out before that. They had been very close friends of my family's. So I rented one of the garages in the complex--the woman owned the apartment complex. My enclosure was fully insulated with high grade home insulation. I moved the females first and let Sampson stay in the apartment because he was in his season. He had mourned when lady died. He would paw at her picture. So when the enclosure and the others were gone I think he thought they were gone for good also. Then I was also under a lot of stress at that time and he sensed that. I think everything combined was too much and due to the stress I was under I didn't read the signs.
Well I guess this has been long enough for now.
