perhaps a gift card to one of the supliers since everyones needs vary we wouldn't be able to just have a specific item that would interest everyone but I would be willing to gamble say $2 towards a $20 card I could go bulb shoping with. Don't pull the raffle until ya get 20 other ppl thinking the same and theres an extra $20 towards rescues. If ya wanna give it a shot let me know ya know something along those lines.

Hi everyone, I am Jeremy's mom. Since he and his iggys live here, I sort of have iggys too. I never thought I would have herps living in my house but I have become quite attached to Bob and Spaz. He has asked me about raffles and I thought I might be able to offer some help. I am a mod at GliderCentral (www.sugarglider.net) and have seen several very successful raffles done. The last raffle was actually done by a board called Sugar Glider Alley, which is a small board but we were successful in raising $1000 to benefit a glider rescue in TX. There is no reason why a raffle of this type can't benefit herps as well.
Within the glider community, we have an fund called the Emergency Vet Fund. The way this fund works if if someone has a sick glider but not enough funds to pay a vet, they can apply for assistance through the EVF. Since we all have an obligation to provide for our captive companions, this fund is awesome in helping us meet those needs. This allows us to provide for the "good of the glider".
I am also aware there are several rescues out there that will take in sick, unwanted iguanas or other herps regardless of reasons. These rescues operate without any type of federal or state assistance. Vet bills, housing and food for these animals can become quite expensive and I know how much they can benefit from a raffle and the funds raised from them.
That all being said. I would be happy to assist you all in putting together a raffle to benifit herps. The first step would be to decide who will be the beneficiary of the raffle. Whether that would be a single rescue or to establish an EVF for herps.
The next step would be to get vendors of supplies to donate items to the raffle.
This does not have to be exclusive to this board. Contacting the other sites and enlisting their support and help with this is a great way to make a raffle successful. They would have the same chances to win in the raffle and it helps to bring the herp community together for the good of the animals.
I can get long winded so I'll leave this for all to think about and if you would like my help in organizing a raffle, please don't hessitate to ask. Or I can work as an armchair coach for Jeremy and let him run with it.

Give me a few days and I will draw up a detailed proposal for review. I think I can make the EVF work with your support. I have a few ideas and although simple it may be time consuming. I'll be deticated to making this happen until it does.

Hello Jeremy’s Mom
Ok So the raffle is on
Ok there are a couple of things I have questions about First: We have a lot of kids here how do we get them to buy a tickets?
Second: How do we get the Money into the Right hands for this Raffle? Which would be me.
Third: How do we run this thing? I know putting it out to other websites is a Great idea and not making them join the site to buy a raffle ticket is good idea but we would have to pass the word. If you haven’t noticed we are just a small forum here.
Forth: This would have to run for like a year to get the people here and in other place time to find the place and by a ticket for this raffle.. This is a Great Idea and with Jeremy and your Mom’s help would be appreciated.
I would like to do this like once a month. With different things to raffle off, there is one more thing to think about after 12 months if we get enough people to do this. There will be plenty of money in the bank for many donations, this is were the donation thing happens how do we determine how much to donate per rescue or society.
I would think of it this way sense it is the forums money that we should have a vote on were the money goes and who gets it.
Like I said this is a Great Idea but will need a little help on this that were I think Elizabeth comes in!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!
But all Kidding aside this is a Great Idea and your Guys Help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks Again for your Help Patrick
