Michelle and I went out today on an ad stating an albino python for sale $500.00.
Michelle called and asked what type of python and the person stated it was an ball python and needed to sell because he had a lot of bills to pay.
We met Michael in Windham, Maine and the albino was in a 50 gal tank in his hide. From what we could see from him in his hide it looked like an albino ball python all balled up. It was too cold out to pull the snake out to see and trusted in the person selling the snake.
We paid for the snake and left. At home Michelle took the snake out and I heard her say "Oh, NO". She asked me what I think and I immediately went on the internet to ask for advise. After posting a few posts and pics our answer was there and it wasn't what we wanted to know.
We had bought a burmese python. Although the snake was very pretty this is not what Michelle wanted. Now we are putting it up for sale.
So the next time you go out to a private sale make sure you can recognize what type of snake you are suppossed to be buying and check it out thoroughly.
Michelle has been banned from using the phone for one month.
If you see an ad for an albino python for $500.00 from Michael in Windham, Maine 207-892-3709, don't buy from this individual. He has not answered his phone on several calls and shut his cell phone off.

So sorry that happened. It is a shame that people have to be so dishonest. Thank you for the warning.

Hey there guys,
That is very unfortunate that, that happened to you. Ball pythons are great pets, but burmese if handled everyday will also make a good snake to. We used to have one only at around 8 - 10ft long, he was abused his whole life before we got him at 6ft long, and suffered very severe burns from fecies, light burns. We had gotten 2 balls, 1 boa and the albino burmese for free. THey were all injured. The burmese turned out to be a beautiful handsome and gentle snake after he knew we wern't going to hurt him anymore. I can't say the same for both ball pythons though. One was sweet as pie and the other would bite you in the face if you breathed to close to her. So its buyer beware no matter what species you are HOPEFULLY getting. There are always bad apples in everything in life, snakes and expecially people. So even if someone says it is a safe animal, be careful, stiches can be very painful for snake bites.
Good luck though, we gave ours away to a man who devoted his whole basement to his burmese. We inspected it all before letting him go of course. I wish you lots of luck on finding him/her a good home if you are not willing to keep him/her. And good luck on the python search. Make sure you watch the price of what you are paying for. A reptile expo that sells reptiles is a good place to see what the going rate for snakes are and how big or small they should be at that age, with proper species listings to.
Good luck, sorry about being kicked off the phone Michelle.

yea, i wasn't able to tell with mine as well. I put up with it and worked through it and have been happy with him. It's a great snake and like they said, if you handle it every day its amazing. You just have to know the mood its in like any other living thing. Mine is 8'0" right now and its really just a beauty. I love it alot but im trying to find it a good home. The place im moving to doesn't allow BIG pets....
Mine was really beat up bad, had a few scars, i heard of how it was being mistreated and saw alot of it too.
It was in a cage with no over head lighting (in a closet), only a heat pad, small dish of water for it, and fed only once every few months. It only would shead in chunks as well.
Right now, he eats 1 large rat every week, sheads in one peice, and depending on his mood and how warm you are, you can pick him up with out any problems. When holding him, he is really gentle as long as you are gentle with him. (be careful when talking while wrapped arround your neck, they feel the vibrations and squeeze a bit) lol

Thanks every one for the nice comments. We did learn not to trust certain individuals and buying during the winter time while transferring snakes between cars. There just isn't time to check out a snake in the cold, so trust becomes paramount. Just make sure yoiu can trust the individual.
