I HAVE USED SEVERAL DIFFERENT THINGS AS A SUBSTRATE BUT I CAME ACROSS SOME EXTRA FLUKERS MOSS IN WHICH I HAVENT USED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS WOULD BE PROPER SUBSTRATE FOR ROSY BOA'S. I WOULD THINK SO BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT THEY ARE BURROWING SNAKES.

Hey Zach I have not read anything that it would be bad for them but I really could not say but from what I have read it does not say anything that it would be bad they are burrowers you just have to make sure that you have your under the tank heater on a rheostat so they do not get burned. And watch for dampest! But maybe Steven or Elizabeth could help here as well..

I haven't read anything that says it would be a bad choice other than this particular snakes likes it dry and moss will absorb moisture quickly. If a piece were to lie in the water dish it can suck a dish dry then you will not only have a dry water bowl you will have a very wet spot in your tank where the moss is.... The things I have read would make me stick to what I have chosen as my snake bedding of choice being the aspen shavings... It's not expensive the bag I have has lasted quite some time in my 20 gal tank and you can put a layer in thick enough for burrowing.... I use the moss with my frog, and it is an ideal substrate when you want your tank more on the wet/damp side! www.anapsid.org/rosyboa.htmlcoloherp.org/careshts/snakes/rosy-boa.php
