I have had my guy since October 06. He has eaten great and shed his skin about once a month and is now approximately 18" long. The last 4 days he has eaten considerably less if at all. I took him to the vet to have a fecal check and everything came back clear. The vet examined him and the only thing she found was that his colon was full. There are no signs of infection. She decided he is constipated. That wasn't the word she used but basically that is it. She gave him 20cc of fluids and vitamin B mixed in with the fluids and told me to soak him 2 times daily until he starts eating again. He has eaten a few crickets here and there (with me basically putting them in front of him) and a few bites of mustard greens here and there. It has recently warmed up so we have been using the air conditioner more in the house. This affects the temps in his tank, obviously, and the overall temp in the middle of his tank is 80-85 degrees. The basking spot temp is 105-108. I have a digital thermometer so I can keep good track of it. My only thought is maybe with the cooler temperature in the house that maybe he has started brumating. He is about 8 months old. Is this a possibility even though it is March? He is lays around more than usual. I dust the crickets with calcium dust and multivitamin dust. I buy my crickets from premiumcrickets.com. Do you have any suggestions or ideas as to what is going on? Thanks for your time.

Babies under a year don't normally brumate...and even with cooler temps in the house...the biological clock will let them know it's not time to brumate. Try giving baths 2x daily. The water should be about 100F. This often stimulates the potty dance and what follows... . Soaking often promotes a little extra internal hydration, too. BDs will often drink from their bath. Fill the sink or tub only as high as the middle of it's sides. Instead of crickets...try some silkworms which have no chitin to add to his already impacted state. I used to get mine from www.mulberryfarms.com . They're healthy enough to feed every day. See if the bath helps and let us know how big a volcano poop he let loose!! :-D
