I have heard that dandelion greens are a favorite of beardies and went straight to my yard for them. I realize that I cant pick them if my yard has been treated with chemicals. Which it hasnt. I tried this last year but no luck on getting them to eat em. How good are they and is it just the flower part that we pick or the whole thing?

The whole plant is edible and quite nutritious though I don't know how to use the root other than drinks. I have actually collected seeds and planted them as ground cover in my house plants. Many good produce stores now carry the greens.
From looking at the nutrient break down the dandilion greens are better looking than even collards for an iguana.

Yes I feed them to my iguanas and they have finally started coming up here. I have fed small amount of te root diced up along with the flowers and leaves. In the winter I have to pay $2/lb for the leaves.

I feed all my guys aswell dandelions, RZ was out in the lawn the other day picking her own! I also feed my chameleon some dandelions and collards. They arn't much for plants but will eat the occasional fresh greens.

If your enclosure has a soil type mixture you can pull the entire root out of the ground and plant them in the enclosure. I used to do this for my chameleon and he loved foraging on his own.
You can also try, planting them in a seperate planter if you do not use a soil mix in the enclosure.
