Aw, their cute! Have I told you about the feeding the mice thing? I can't remember. Just incase...they are too hard for the dragon to digest, the bones, etc., and they just aren't healthy and are too high in fat.

You did tell me and no I dont beleive that they arent good for my dragons. I have a friend who has fed his dragons pinky mice on a monthly basis and he hasnt had any problems. They are now at a good size and eating veggies, crickets, superworms, and pinky mice on a monthly basis. His dragons have been fine all along.

i have to disagree steven pinkies are very good every now and again as a treat or a pick me up, the pinkie is only a few days old so the bones are still soft (to a degree) and a pinkie is great for a just laid or gravid female to boost the calcium in her diet. i feed my bds and wds a pinkie about once 2/3 weels and i have been keeping beardies for a few years they do get yearly MOT s and xrays every now and again and the vet confirms they are in perfect health

Well we all have our opinions=) But the pinkies don't take effect right there and then, it builds up in their digestive track over a short or long amount of time, you never know! Just because your friends dragon's are fine as adults now, does NOT mean that your dragons will be fine. All I'm saying is that it IS taking a risk, because even though they are newborn mice, their bones are still hard to digest and they are way too high in fat for your dragon. Silkworms, superworms, or hornworms, work just as good to fatten up your dragon if thats what it needs, and they are healthy! Mice were thought to be a good source to fatten up females after laying a clutch but dragons have died of impaction from the mice. I'm not asking you to change your ways of feeding your dragon, its your choice, of course! I"m just letting you know that there are risks involved.

That's fine Loulou. Thanks for your input. But now this is the end for this thread. The person was only posting pictures of his Dragons. This debate can continue under a seperate thread if you wish. In fact there is a thread discussing this so if anything else needs to be addressed concerning this please post it under that thread. We don't mind constructive criticism and people being concerned but we also don't want anyone to be afraid to post a picture either. Thanks everyone for your input. It is appreciated.

Thank You Marie. As matter of fact I actually started that thread I beleive. I dont mean to start a argument about mice and dragons. Its like whenever I post something about feeding requirements It starts a major debate. Like my case with using sand as a substrate. Steven also has told me sand causes impaction. I dont know what to do gosh darnet. So many answers so little evidence. Where is the evidence of impaction? I havent seen any at all. Thanks Marie and Patrick and all of you who have helped me argue with myself about what is good and what is bad.

Zach thank you for posting the pictures. I enjoyed them. And the pros and cons have now been stated about pinkies. Zach has been given the information and now we can move on. Sorry but I'm locking this thread. If anyone wants to say more about pinkies can post it to the mouse debate thread. I myself like a lively debate because that is one way of learning. But please do it in a friendly and constructive way.

Hey Guys and Ladies We are all here to Learn from Each other and Steven has his advise and LouLou as advise I have my advise to. Hey Zach there is no arguments here it is people giving the best advise that is out there and there experience that they have. Now in my Breaded Dragon care sheet I do mention Sand but I also have a note their use with caution it may cause impaction. I have talk to many Dragon owners and a lot of them have not had any problems with using sand and feeding Pinkies are ok as a TREAT Only!! Not as a normal Diet item! So what I am trying to say is to use your own judgment on this and Keep reading about them and talks to people that have them. Thanks Patrick
