Would a 30" by 20" by 12" cage be good for a single bearded dragon?

Generally - if you go by the dimensions a 40 gal breeder tank offers - or a 50-55 gal (even better) - then you have a good size for a single beardie...:-)

This is just why you would go with the dimensions of one. I never suggested buying one...;-)

well and it would give him more room... since i can only fit a 40 gallon aquarium... if i make my own i can add like 10inches to the width of the cage

That would be AWESOME if you could add that width! Beardies do well with a lot of floor space since they're terrestrial lizards. Good choice of math...:-D
