I currently have 3 dragons. I only have two tanks. I keep my female and one male in a 40 breeder tank. The other tank is a 40 tall. I keep my smaller male in this tank. I have been told that it is bad to keep females and males togeather longer than breeding season. Can I keep them togeather all the time even though they are of breeding age?

Males and females should ONLY be kept together for short periods of time for breeding perposes only. The males can breed at a young age and if that female is too small or under age then that will be bad. I would strongly recommend getting another cage for the 3rd dragon as soon as possible.

Any babies will go to the local pet store if produced. Ive already talked with them and they are planning on purchasing them off of me if produced. I also have friends who want dragons and the ones who want them get them for free. Remember Im not looking to sell these really just repay those friends with dragons. I have had alot contributed to my collection of animals and only 3 of my animals were bought. These friends want dragons and are ready to house them. I get free aquariums because my friend works disposal and he gets any of them people just throw out. So planning on breeding yes. Do I have the space for those animals? Yes I do have more tanks than just the two but dont want to use all of them for my dragons.

Ok, housing isn't the only thing you have to consider when breeding. Your going to need a LOT more crickets and calcium, and greens. Do you have a an a laying box, and an incubator with a thermostat, these are all things you have to take care before putting your dragons together for breeding. In my opinion, I would not sell to a petstore because probably some of those babies will die. Petstores do not take care of dragons like they should be taken care of. Ok, there might be some really good petstores but most of them aren't good, they keep their babies on sand and don't clean their cages as often as they should be. But of course, its your choice, their your dragons. I'm not trying to be mean at all and I'm sorry if it comes off that way because this stuff is serious, its not just a fun science experiment.

I understand your concern very well and I have thought this all the way through but one thing that does seem clear is that when you make statements like the ones in the previous two responses you come off as being more concerned about why I am doing this. You should be concerned but dont underestimate my knowledge. I want to learn this kind of stuff for a reason. For my knowledge and for others like yourself. You are here to answer my questions not lecture me on how to raise my dragons or what to do with my dragons. If I decide to breed its because I want to learn because I am interested in animals not just reptiles. You have bred have you not? Ok well why is it that you advice me not to try but you have bred before. This is for my knowledge and mine alone. I actually have more than enough time and money to enjoy my hobby to its fullest. I want those who fear paying 60 to 100 dollars for a bearded dragon to know that not all people in this business are interested in the money part of it. Its to enjoy animals and learn from them. So if you question my knowledge I say how does your knowledge differ from mine. I ask questions to learn what others have learned and compare what they know to what I know. You laugh at me for trying and I think thats in plain site. I have friends who want some dragons and many others. I will let them adopt the ones they decide. I will not charge them the hundred dollars other breeders would most likely charge. Thanks anyway zach

I am very sorry if I came off rude and not understanding. I never meant to underestimate your knowledge or your wanting to do this. To me, it just sounded like you didn't really care for breeding, you just thought, "hey, if babies come, then they come and I get rid of them". Thats why I started ranting on about the responsibilites of breeding and I'm sorry if I said that in a rude way. Good Luck.

Its no problem dude. You seem like you know alot about dragons and thats cool. Remember that their are alot of people who own dragons and have bred them for years. I had the vet tell me he was impressed with my knowledge about them and my other animals. He actually told me I should be a vet. He said he has seen alot of dragons come through his clinic and none of them looked as good as mine. He even persuaded me to bring the rest of the animals in just for pictures. Like Nana my iguana and my geckos. dude you are all right just keep being a source of information for starter dragon owners when they are in need of knowledge. Later. zach
