Hi there Zootnkyle, Even though your little iguana is only two months old he/she will try and eat everything that is or isn't edible that you put in there that he/she can fit in its mouth. A lot of the things that we put in our iguana's enclosures are harmful to them. Bark substraight or saw dust is one of them. As for putting in furnishings like real or even fake plants they will still try and eat them. Here is a link to iguana safe plants that are NON toxic but not ment for food sourses. www.iguanaden.org/diet/nontoxic.htm[\url]Here is a list of TOXIC plants for iguana's. DO NOT FEED OR PUT THESE PLANTS ANYWHERE WHERE AN IGUANA MAY ACCIDENTLY EAT THEM. DEATH COULD RESULT. www.iguanaden.org/diet/toxic.htm[\url]Just a little reminder also ANY plant, tree or food item treated with ANY FERTALIZERS should never be fed to an iguana. It could also result in death or poisioning. Be sure to wash food items throughly before feeding to them. Hope this helps Also don't expect your bamboo to live too long after having an iguana crawling around on it. They tend to shred them up Keep us posted!

I'm trying to make sense of it... Could it have been a reference to fertilizers being used that's missing? The links are excellent links Cham has listed...and it's very true about shredding plants. I don't know of anyone who has been able to keep live plants in an ig cage for any length of time unless it's completely out of reach...and not many people can even keep an enclosure that big! Good luck in your quest for a hardy plant while baby is still little...

It's showing on the list that Bamboo is a safe plant to put in your iguanas repterium. It is advised that you transplant into a safe container with dirt that doesn't contain the white pellets. The white pellets in many potting soils are extremely dangerous if ingested by your iguana. Also, it's important to keep the plant out of your iguanas tank for a minimum of 60 days washing the plant daily (just put it in the shower and turn it on for about 20 minutes) to ensure pesticides are washed. Most of the gardening sections or gardening stores spray their plants with pesticides to keep them beautiful and attractive for potential buyers.
