I am glad your friend stole it!
Take it from me, there are worse iggys out there that have survived, but mine is bad enough.
It is heartbreaking to see them struggling to get back to health and move around. And the broken toes, smashed up faces, discusing environments that they were removed from, living in there own waste.
RRRRRRRR people make me angry!
Well Jeremy you keep giving him good advice and I'm sure the iggy will pull through.
And about the movement, RZ was like that at first from never being able to move around. Its just like a person that has been bed ridden for a long time, there muscles arn't used to pulling or moving weight. If they can't do the check up yet, just keep an eye out and hopefully they can afford it soon, if that is the reason its not being done.
But good luck.

Hello Jeremy
Well I do not agree in stealing anyone’s animals! This should have been report to the local human society and the action would have been taken on there side and then you friend could have adopted the iguana out right by law. But sense it is already done the first thing is a Good VET CHECK! That mean the hole 9 yards, Blood panel, x-rays, feces test very thing!
Do you know if the guy had UV on the animal if not the shakiness could be the start of MBD I am not sure but it sounds like it.
So my best idea is to get the guy to the vet ASAP! and a reptile VET not a vet that looks at dogs and cats! If he/she cannot then the person should of never took the guys animal, but it is done. So if you need any help with the Vet let me know though a pm! And I will be more the welling to help out!

I agree with Patrick.
Stealing animals is bad.
Iguana needs a vet check desperately
The iguana shows some secondary signs of MBD, like "popeye" legs (over calcificatiuon of the bone matrix in an attempt to protect it from injury and a compromised nervous system).
Keep her warm, feed high calcium, low phosphorous diet supplemented with cruched B-complex vitamins and coupled with a strong UVB exposure. Should see some significant changes in a couple of weeks.
Poor thing, glad you rescued it Jeremy!
Regards, Dominick

Just to clarify, I am not the one who stole/rescued this iggy, I can say that the iggy would have been in more knowledgeable hands had it been reported, however, what is done is done, and now a less knowledgable person then myself and I am sure the majority of the people on this forum made the best decision he knew of. Most people do not know of any other place then the pound(commonly precieved to = death) to call and report mistreatment. All this guy knew is he could get her in a bigger cage, provide a climate controled environment(to include light, heat, and humidity)that the ig didn't have before. I am just the advisor. Personaly I am not sure that I would have tried to keep her in his possition . I would have tried to find another person with the knowledge and resourses to give her the best chance possible. He has had her for nearly 3 months and thought her actions were normal, he anticipates being able to do the vet thing within the next few weeks and I would like to cover as many bases as possible without being harmful to other possibilities between now and then. If he doesn't start making the necissary adjustments I will be looking for someone willing to tend to her and if it comes to it I wouldn't have any objections to turning him in myself. i just know he must care or he wouldn't have her and at this point he is learning all that he can. I just hope he can afford to tend to her. Numerous suggestions are being made and all will be relaid. I am interested in a little more feedback concerning the B complex vitamin. I imagine there are specific levels of those vitamins where it becomes harmful. I would hate to make that recomendation and have her overdose. Also can anyone recommend a stronger uvb source then sunlight and the reptsun 5.0's?

I have been giving Dragon and Baby B-Complex. I used ordinary human B-complex. I crush one and add a very light dusting to their food. I have been giving it to them 1 time a week but your rescue is sick so it will probably need it to be more often. For multivitamins Melissa recommends supplementation 3-4 times a week for sick or emancipated iguanas. Which I am not sure that would apply to B-complex. www.anapsid.org/vitamin.htmlMarie
