Hi I am actually the one who houses Nana and right now she is out soaking up the sun enjoying her morning. I just got on and I cant beleive my Nana is actually picture of the week. thank you guys so much that is awesome. Jeremy and I will hopefully get some more pics of her in her current state. She has been eating alot better and I am happy about that. I was having trouble getting her to eat for a little time and she lost a little weight but she is back up to size and her tail is filling back up. Thank God!!!!!! I just called Jeremy and told him about the pic you guys put up here. That is awesome thanks alot. Jeremy and I share ownership of Nana and take care of her togeather but I feed her most of the time and take care of her. He brought her to me awhile back because he didnt have a place to house her. I love Nana she is so kick ass even though she can be a little grumpy sometimes. Hope to hear from you all. Zach

actually I was doing a good job from the start but I have been having problems getting her to eat alot. She wont eat her salads. She will only eat from my hands rarely. Sometimes she wont eat for 3 day and not even from my hand. I guess its because she is spayed. I have tried several different types of salads and she doesnt even try it. I also tried appettite stimulator and that had no effect on her. I have been trying my hardest but she just wont get into eating mode for me. If their is anything you all can suggest that would be great. I also have talked with Patrick about this and he told me to try a few things but I am running out of Ideas. Could she not want to eat if she isnt receiving and vitamin D3. I take her outside and give her sunlight almost every day when the sun is out and shining. thanks zach

Easy Zack, no one said you were doing a bad job in the first place but you are doing a better job now. It was becoming obious that you were becoming irritated and less attentive before we talked. Which is understandable, she is stuborn. I had that conversation for two reasons, one, you were put into an tough possition (starting out with an 8yr old cranky ig) of which my original intent was not that she was going to be your responsability. That idea changed because you showed a lot more interest then I anticipated, then you started getting frustrated, the legacy wore off and she started loosing weight, and I have a responsibility to her and her previous owner to ensure she is being taken care of, so I brought up alternative options in case you wanted out of the situation. Second, you were expressing financial concerns and going through a lot of life changes, agian just opening a back door. Since we talked you have been more attentive, more proactive in determining basic needs that prior to our conversation you had easily twice the knowledge about your beardies and the chamileon, and you seem much more interested. It was never anything personal but I was having my doubts about whether Nana was in her best environment option, now that you are making the efforts you are I feel a lot more confident about my decision. I just want to make sure you know if things get to be to much that there is an alternative, your not stuck. Spring is coming and i am sure there will be a dramatic difference in Nana's behavior once she is able to be outside more often. That is probable the largest difference between here and her old home. Being in the desert she had the opprotunity to be outside a whole lot more. At this point she is probably eating no more then the amount of energy she is using so I am hopefull that her appitite will increase with her activity level. Lets hope she just did that winter slow down simi-hibernate thing, and she'll come out of it soon enough.

Jeremy, I know no one ever said I was doing a bad job. I dont know why you think I would think anyone thought I was doing a bad job. I was saying that because she isnt eating her salads. You know you can help anytime and I dont think we need to discuss this on a forum in the first place. We all know I have done my best with her but their are times she just wont eat even if I stand up at her cage for awhile anyway. I just dont get it. I guess we need to do some different things with her to get her back to normal. She is doing better besides not eating what she should. I would rather her have salads to eat than me standing at her cage all day long waving a peice of lettuce in front of her and have her shake her head at me. She would eat from our hands at first and not from a salad. We need her to eat her salads not from our hand and you know this. Call me when you see my post or whatever. thanks zach

Generally with my iggys I would just feed them everyday this big salad for each of them... However when I brought Calisto home she was on a pretty bad diet and didn't really want to eat... When I first started to give her a salad she wouldn't eat it either...
So first I just took the salad out and started to offer her the food every other day... But when I did I also just gave her for the first few weeks just a huge bowl of greens to eat no extra funny vegetables or anything just greens... She started with that and the every other day thing and would just slowly polish off the greens... She didn't care for people to be around when she ate so leaving her with her bowl helped too... Now she will eat everything I give her greens and vegetable and I can feed her daily...
Another suggestion if it will get her to eat... Instead of standing there waving greens in her face I take about 3 or 4 large leaves from the collard greens get them all rinsed and then I take them in to the shelf she lays in and I use a spare clamp I have that come with the dome lights and I use those to clamp up the leaves so they are standing up or hanging down depending on where I am hanging them... All of mine will eat really well when I do this they seems to love tearing up the leaves...
anyway just some alternate ideas that you could try...
I am going to add this also to the NANA conversation on the iggy board...
