i got seraphine from a friend of a friend, she bought her for her son and he subsequently was getting to big and the mother was having to look after serpahine more than her lad. she is very active when she wants to be.
she has a couple of curly toes and a lump on one of her toes.
could these be MBD symptoms.
my camera phone has died so i cannot post pics . i will when i get it fixed. thanks......

It would be a good idea to take Seraphine to an herp vet to make sure. I'm not sure what all the signs and symptoms are of MBD, but I check Sir Emmy's legs regularly since swollen limbs is a definite sign.

hi all, good news and weird news. went to the vets today they checked her over and said she is fine. apart from BEING A HE!!!!
she said his head is a little small but he might be a beta male.
anyhoos i am cool with it he is still my seraphine.
lol although wasnt sure about changing neame. but the i decided not too. besides seraphine was the order of angel and it doesnt specify male or femal angel.
lol anyhoos. i have a male iguana. which means i know have to read all the guy iguanan info lol.
at least i dont have to worry about her/his egg traumas.

Hey there, Well that is interesting news! Congrats on being a father of a baby boy! LOL well kinda anyway. OK so its a male there are a few things you need to know. Look on the main iguana page at "pores" and that will help you determine if he is a he for sure There are a few signs to tell. How did you vet tell? As for the head thing, different iguana's mature at different rates. Just because his head is small now doesn't mean that it won't catch up Along with some other male appearances. A few things that you need to read up on are BREEDING SEASON AGGRESSION, as males tend to get really cranky during breeding season. Seminal plugs, pores and fun things like that. Those are all things associated with male iguana's. Some breeding season's will be perfectly fine but other seasons he could be very cranky and rammy towards you. Just be careful, each breeding season is a new experience with some lizards. Keep us posted and any pictures would be welcome We love pictures!

thanks chamzilla. the vet showed me the pores that ruin down her legs. i will have to read up on males for proper terms she also stuck a probe thing down her tail. she said it went quite deep that is why she is a he.
i will read up onm men iguanans and come back with more questions. she may be doing somethings that are normal for a male. thanks once again.. when phone is fixed i will post pics.

I originally thought my iguana was a female. After discovering the hemi penile bulges and the elongated head with forming brain bumps, we took him back to the vet and they agreed that it was more likely Emmy was a he and not a she. Then was the task of trying to rename him. I was stuck on Emmy since the first time I held him, so we dropped the Lady and added the Sir. I don't think he really cares what I call him as long as I hold him, love him, and feed him.
