Hi all,
I own a 3ft, 4yr old iguana, 'Lizard'. Lizard has been inside his whole life. The last year he goes in an outside cage when it is warm. Lizard is now getting too big for the indoor cage. We want to put him outside in the cage, install heat lamps, etc. We live in San Diego area. Anyone have any suggestions on how to set up the cage so he will be ok in it? It is on wheels and we can roll it in under a patio cover at night, rain, etc.

Hi Suprpntr and Lizard, Welcome to the forum How cold does it get at night where you are? Right now and at the coldest part of the year? This will help us help you keep Lizard safe and try and work something out. It is hard to keep them outside all year long unless the temperature stays above 70F at night. Have you had him/her its whole life? It might just cost you more money to keep him/her outside then to build another enclosure inside. Just to let you know. Could you please post what the temperatures are and we'd be glad to help you out

Thank you for the welcome. Wasn't sure which forum to put this question in, which is why I posted twice.
I would say the temp here drops to 35 at the coldest. The problem with keeping him inside is we have no room to make a larger cage indoors. He likes his bigger outside one. I was thinking if we make a built in heat lamp, and make an enclosed area in that part of the cage around it, it might be warm enough for him at night. His cage is on wheels so we can put him under the patio at night, rain, etc.
We have had Lizard since he was about 6in long, 4 yrs total. He is not really that friendly but we do take him out. He tolerates us, doesn't bite or whip. Now if you have something he wants, such as grapes, he is a bit more friendly. Lizard is very healthy. He is big, but I suspect he should be bigger for his age.
Just looking for some imput, ideas here.
Thanks
