Ok. I was going down my list of staple foods for my steve and butternut squash was one i have never bought and decided to try somthing new. Well, i have never fed an iguana butternut squash let alone myself. It is hard and a pain to cut, Anyone know if you just need to shred it like a carrot or do i need to cook this sucker? it's in peices on my counter and well, atm it is Squash 1 me 0.

Ok, well i think i finally managed that one, but one other question, the peel, is the skin ok if it's peeled thin? I ended up putting it into the food prosesser. They seemed to eat it no issue, but it was a pain to peel it first. I figure if they can eat the outside, i'll just stick the whole thing in next time.

Hi there, Sorry it took so long to get back... things are hectic with getting chrismas stuff ready and all that... Ok so you can grate it with the cheese grader or you can put it in the food processor and make it into little chunks. As far as the peel... depends if they use heavy pestacides on the squash where ever its grown... In the summer I grow my own and I don't use any pestasides so they can eat the peels on them. Its really up to you if you want to chance it. I've heard of people doing it and there iguana being fine. Its self choice but I don't do it. If its a young iguana then the pieces need to be smaller. anymore questions feel free to post And hopefulyl I'll get back sooner!

I took the seeds out np. I make sure to take the seeds out of everything before i give it to them. The squash seems to have become a favorit for them soooo it looks like I'll be adding it to the list from now on.
