Hello, I wouldn't recomend using those bulbs for use with reptiles. Those lights are much to bright for your iguana's eyes and WILL cause problems. To much exposure to UV is VERY harmful and causes much more problems then it does good. The bulbs you get online that are for REPTILE USE ONLY are specificaly designed for reptiles and are safe for use with them. The best bulbs for iggys that last pretty much a year are from .... www.reptileuv.com they are a great company and have MANY years experiance with iguana's. The bulb u are looking for is the MEGA RAY... they even come with a warrenty. Hope this helped you

How can mega rays be used for iguanas? I thought they were too hot? I figured they would need like 5.0 or 25microwat strength lights?

Mega Ray bulbs are the best private bulb you can get out there. They do get hot if placed TO CLOSE to an iguana. You need to constantly measure the temperature and be sure its at a steady temperature and never goes above 98F AT THE HIGHIST. Probe thermometers kept under the light ensures you constantly can monitor the temperature so it does't get to hot.
Mega Rays are designed to be placed at least 12" away from the iguanas basking spot to provide the required UV lighting. And the heat source will be discontinued if the enclosure/basking spot is to hot.
(sorry if I'm making mmistakes... I have been bit pretty badly by one of my iguana's and have a popsycle stick taped to my finger so it doesn't bend and break the gash open over and over.
