I've read the threads and posts on this forum for awhile now, but now that i have pictures to show off my iguana i will actually post around.
I use to have iguanas in the past, starting with my girlfriend who is now my wife brought me over an iguana and told me happy Christmas (yes i wanted one so she was nice enough to by me one) but after so long parents just didnt like the idea of having them, not having the proper lighting.. living environment.. money to put into making one and other combination of reasons why i was not able to keep them.
Now that im 20, i have a stable job and the extra money to spend every now and then i decided i would take a look at the local petshop. I was hoping to see an affordable red iguana but i only seen them once at my petshop so i wasnt going to complain if they didnt. I looked in there 55 gallon tank that have a few green iguanas in there but only one really caught my eye. This guy right here:
so i bought him, and had to hold him in the car before going straight home, lol :
I believe this iguana is going to be perfect for me. My last iguana was already a year old before i got him, this little guy is only 2-3 months old tops and you can tell as his body is only Body: 2-3 inches, With tail: 8-9 inches. He is really calm and human friendly already so i think he was breed in captivity.
I made an txt file on my pc to keep all the information about him so i can write about him and perhaps make a blog about him.
I haven't fully decided on a name, but i like the name Zeak for him. Im not really wanting to name him any other iguana names "like iggy, Godzilla, or any other name ending with zilla, lol)
As of right now he is living in a 55 gallon tank by itself on top of a aquarium stand to keep it up off the floor. As it seems big for him now, i know iguanas grow fast and rapidly in the first year of its life so im going to be making a cage of some sort and will post pictures when im doing it.
I DO need to buy an uvb light, and the ones i seen seem misleading and do not provide uvb although it clams to provide "uv" so my local petstore isnt the best place to buy it, so if you guys can provide my with sites that are trusted when i can buy some that would be great.
