Hey guys first post on here and I just have a quick question. I have to go away for 2 weeks for work and am leaving my boyfriend (bless his heart lol) to care for my Iguana and Bearded dragon. I am wondering what your views are about pre-packaging food for individual days to keep it simple for him. I am wondering if pre-packaging and freezing or simply just refrigerating the food and what will keep it freshest longest. I have found when I freeze food it thaws out wilty looking. I just keep food packaged in the fridge and prepare fresh food for them daily. So what are your experiences on preparing food this way. Thanks

:(Hello and Welcome! Freezing any greens they turn wilty because there cell structure is broken. For example... a balloon is the cell structure when the greens aren't frozen..... when you freeze them... ice crystals form inside the balloon from the inside out and poke through the balloon.... Thats why they turn out all discusting. And are obviously losing nutrients..... What I do with my greens is.... tupperware containers..... I make enough for two weeks (sometimes it lasts 2 weeks sometimes it doesn't) Make sure all the greens have been washed and have time to dry off, chop them up or rip them up how ever you prepare yours. Put them inside the tupperware... but make sure all excess water is out, or the greens will turn slimy and gross on the bottom. This works well for the greens but not to well for the veggies... .and deffintly NOT for the fruits..... Those have to be prepaired every day. If you grate some veggies and keep them in a tupperware or a bag you can use them till they as well turn slimy... which will only be a few days because of there water content..... Good luck and let us know with what you came up with. ALSO sorry for the long delay in a reply... I was having difficulty signing into the forum under my account.
