Hi there everyone I was wondering if I could get a bit of help. I'm new to iguanas, my little (maybe not so little) guy, was supposed to be in perfect condition and come with a proper cage and everything he needed. He was supposed to be from an experienced iguana keeper and promised to give me any support I needed and answer questions. My husband went to pick him up and when he came home, I saw that the cage was not at all any type of cage for him, right off the bat. It's a modified... cupboard, I guess. It's about two, maybe two and a half feet long, a foot and a half wide and perhaps a foot and a half tall. I'm guessing my iguana is probably about a foot long, not including his tail. It has a glass door, that doesn't really stay on and the back is chicken wire, holding no humidity and no heat. The light looks like your typical screw in light bulb. He's only been fed Zilla's Fortified Juvenile Iguana Food and crickets, never any greens or fruit. Then when I took him out of his little box, discovered he can't use his back legs or his front left arm. When he's in or around his cage he becomes very aggressive with bitting and whipping. But once he's out, he's as sweet as pie. This friday we'll be going to see the vet but I was hoping that someone out there can help me, a newbie to iguanas. I was royally screwed over, but I'm not mad about that. I'm mad that I was lied too and this poor guy's been mistreated and can't do anything but drag himself around by his good arm on the bottom of his cage. He also came with this Nature's Reptile Vita-Spray. When I lift the bottle he goes insane, hates it with a passion. Should I throw that away or perhaps maybe spray it on my fingers and then pet him and gently rub it in? And these pelletes... I don't know what he eats anymore. I tried giving him a variouty of greens and fruits, he's only taken one small bite of banana, that's it. I can't get him to eat anything else. Tomorrow I'm going to take him outside into the sun, maybe he's not digesting properly or warm enough? He's always cold when I touch him, so I have tucked him up with me under the blankets to watch movies, which he seems to love. He lays stretched out along my chest and goes to sleep. Friday we'll be putting in proper UV bulbs as well and looking into a much larger cage suited for him, but any websites that sell cages where I can order (and are trusted by other iguana owners) would be nice.
