Hello, I have a green iguana and her name is Archie. I got her June of 2010, and up until a month ago she was perfectly healthy. About a month ago I took her to the vet, and was told she had a spinal injury, so she cant really move all that well. Since then I have noticed She is getting really heavy and not going to the bathroom, that I can see. She has a 2 feet by 8 foot enclosure that we had built. So she has lots of room to go, however as I said she isn’t moving much. • She is eating. • She is drinking. • Her color is excellent (vets words) • Her teeth are still very sharp. • She might not be going to the bathroom. I have a UVA and UVB light, I have been bathing her in water, I tried stimulating area with a qtip bc vet said to do that. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Symptoms • Not going bathroom • Heavy • Purplish looks like bumbs on upper arm (both of them) I would love any suggestions.

eek, your vet may need to do an enima...... if she/he (which sex is it FOR SURE?) You could ask for an xray to be done and you can see if she ate something she shouldn't have, has a blockage or is gravid (full of eggs) A vet visit SHOULD be done! Next paragraph is something you could try while waiting to get an appointment. This is a serious situation
I had an iguana that was half paralyzed from having spine breakages (caused from MBD). I had to help her use the washroom by massaging her belly and holding her on an angle with her head higher than her vent. Holding her with your one hand up around her font legs on her chest and massaging with the other hand. kinda gently pulling from her ribs to her vent. NOT from vent up, nothing will come out that way. This may make her pretty upset so you might have to wear a glove in the hand you are holding her with as she may scratch you or even bite you.
If your letting her eat things and she isn't pooping then that WILL cause a problem..... her belly can only get so big before something lets go. You might try to give her some PURE canned pumpkin. Not pie filling. You can give her a tablesthingy of that. every day. If she doesn't use the washroom soon she WILL make her sicker (not from the pumpkin). Your vet should have already told you to watch out for that. Her body will start becoming toxic.... imagine if you couldn't use the washroom how sick you would become? Same thing with them, it just takes a bit longer.
Let me know how things go. She is probably loaded full of poop and urites. The purplish bumps I have no clue... A high quality photo might help.
