Ok, so I have a question about iguanas. It seems I have seen some iggys that have outrageously huge dewlaps (the flap of skin on the throat) and others who have very small to no dewlap. What is the difference is it a male vs female trait or what? Any insight would be great. Thanks.

From what I have been reading it appears that yes males have a larger dewlap than female iguanas... If you are looking at that in younger ones though as a tell tail sign of if they are male or female, I would not go by that... Most iguana owners will tell you that you can't tell if it is a male or female till it is at the very least a year old, and then it is by looking at the femoral pores... As they age there are more prominant characteristics like enlarged jowls etc... that will show signs of being a male vs. being a female...
