i recieved a rather distressing call from my partner today while i was at work
he was doing our regular weekly weighing and rang me to inform me the cuban female had lost about 100 grams in one week.well i started to panic and then it suddenly clicked, i asked him to strip the room and come back to me.well i got a call later telling me he had found two cuban eggs but they had slightly dried out hes popped them in the incubator in the hope that they will survive but i dont hold out much hope. fingers crossed they didnt dry out too much but if they fail at least we now have her laying dates for next year.
now the female, we should have seen the signs and i could kick myself for not noticing she was alot more fidgetty than normal and was eating less than normal i wish i had clicked sooner *lou bangs head on table* she ignore the laying box but we now know where she may lay next year too.she is at the vets tomorrow for my peace of mind and an MOT and hoepfully everything is fine. so now its just a case of getting her weight back up and getting her calcium levels back up. im so glad she laid for us it means she is happy and unstressed in our little home and her conditions are good i just wish we had stipped the room sooner.
sorry to clog up the board just thought i would share this with you for others to read and maybe use it as a learning curve and reassure people everyone makes mistakes
