I can't find where anyone has bragged about their Leo's.....
So, I thought I would start & hopefully there are more Leo parents out there!!
I have 2 Leo's. benny is a male normal almost 2 years old. joon is a female albino and is also almost 2 years old.
I got benny & joon (yes, I am a HUGE Johnny Depp fan!!!) as hatchlings and they were so tiny and cute! They were no bigger than my pinky (maybe 2 inches snout to tail). They were very skiddish & did not like to be handled. They would run to their hides when I would put my hand in the enclosure. I would talk softly to them while changing their water & feeding them & just place my hand in the enclosure for a while. Not trying to touch them but just keep it there. Slowly they would come to my hand (Leo's are very courious creatures!!) & get closer & closer. Eventually sniffing, then licking my hand & benny was the first to actually climb onto my hand. I didn't grab him right away. I just let him investigate. joon couldn't stand it & had to climb on also. Then one day, when I had my hand in there, benny came running out of him hide, onto my hand & up my arm to my shoulder!!! LOL!! He hasn't been shy since!!! joon is still a little more timid, but has her courious moments.
They have been roommates since I got them until.....
One evening, I was doing some work in my office & I heard this "flicking" noise. I glanced over to the Leo enclosure & all I could see was benny's tail up in the air shaking wildly!! I went to the enclosure & he had poor joon pinned down & was biting her tail!!! I was freaked!!! My little boy was getting frisky with his sister!!!! (I don't know about you, but that really grossed me out!!) Anyway, to make a long story not quite so long (sorry folks!) they now live in seperate enclosures. Even though benny is reaching maturity, joon is too young to become gavid. I've read too many times of females not making it if they lay eggs their first year. Besides, i'm too young to be a grandma!!!!
LOL
Here is a pic of my joonie!! Isn't she adorable?! I haven't been able to take a recent one of benny. He is too active & won't hold still for a picture...... MEN!!
