hey all, I live in Va Beach, VA. Ernesto was just a tropical depression when it passed over our area, but we got a lot of flooding that we normally do not see. My work decided to call it a "liberal leave" day after people were already on their way to work (or already there, so pretty much stuck there). I was not so lucky and my car got stuck in the water in the middle of the road while I was on my way to work. Not sure yet if there is damage to the engine or anything else.. I hope to find out tomorrow or Wednesday. It stalled out as I was driving. I already filed a claim with my insurance, and I should only owe the deductible ($250), but I sure hope they don't declare the car totalled. Anyway, here are two pics. The water was thigh deep on the road by mid morning. I guess I overestimated the submarine qualities of my Mini. In the pics, you can see a silver Mini Cooper in the middle. It was somewhat safe on the median (or what was left of it) when we pushed it up there. Luckily a flatbed tow truck happened to stop and only charged $50 to tow it to the dealership. You can't beat that even on a sunny day. I heard there was a 4 hour wait for the tow truck companies. At least a little bit of luck shined my way. Here, when trucks and SUVs drove by, it splashed waves up over the hood.

WOW! Sorry I didn't post sooner, a lot of things have been going on around here. That is a lot of water! We have had flooding like that down the road from where I live, lake Erie decides not to take on much water when its raining hard and storming, it push's more water over the road and causes a lot of damage. The water down there has also been thigh deep. Its scary when the water starts moving fast though, it starts taking things away then. That is a really cute car too! Hope there wasn't too much damage, and good thing for the tow truck person He would have made my day! I hope everything is getting back to normal around there, Do you get a lot of flooding there all the time or just sometimes?
