oh I don't know I think an arg b/w is a fine starter as long as a person researches into what they are getting... Expect a big reptile to appear where there once was a tiny one. Expect a big feeding bill. Expect to have to work with it everyday. Expect to have a creature that will want to roam the house looking for things to get into. Expect a wonderful and rather friendly reptile who is very smart and will learn routines really easy. If your willing to have these kind of expectations and take the time to read a bit on them, then I see the arg b/w as a great investment.
Now if you said Columbian b/w hahaha I would say don't do it unless your ready for a bit of lightning in a bottle. I have one of each and the columbian is very hard to work with and is willing to bite just for the sake of doing so.... but I am not giving up and he will learn I am going to be his friend as well as his caregiver.
Good luck with your pets both current and future.

I have one thats about 28'' long. hes easy enough to care for IF u know what your doing. if not then your going to have a really hard time especiall durring burmation. i would advise aginst it for a little while so you can do alot of research. i specialize in them and other large lizards such as the veranids heres a place i joined a while ago. its an amazing place with ALOT of helpful people and a few amazing breeders that are good friends and produce thebest tegs on the market. its: www.thetegu.comi hope you enjoy! ;D hoosier
