This is a basic Care Sheet for Chameleons, I recommend that you research the species you have and use the Care sheet that is for them! This will give you an idea on what is needed for them.
Housing/Furniture
Ok these guys need a home and you will have to provide one. So from what I have read in the basic care of these guys you will have to do this. You will have to have a good ventilated Enclosure Maybe like 20” wide by 18” dept and 30” high. But I have read that some aquarium enclosures do not stress them out but you will have to watch for fungus and bacteria that can grow and that is a bad thing especially for baby chameleons. Plus the reflection on the glass has a habit of stressing them out.
On lighting you will need the three most basic things!
1. Incandescent lamp (will help in the lighting and heat)
2. UVB/UVA Lighting (for article sunlight)
3. CHE for night time (for nighttime heat)
Now artificial plant can be used but These Guys Like Real plants so here is a list of plants that they like plus it gives them something to climb and hide and it helps with the humidity that you are going to need:
Abelia Baby Tears Cactus Spinless Dracaena
African Violet Birds Nest Fern Camellia Emerald Ripple
Sweet Alyssum Boston Fern Coleus Eugenia
Asparagus Fern Bottle Brush Corn Plant Fuschia
Aster Bougainvillea Creeping Charlie Geranium
Bromeliads Bridal Veil Croton Hibiscus
Hen and Chicks Succulent Jasmine Painted Nettle Phoenix
Hoya Lavender Palms Pilea
Ice plant Marigold Pampas Grass Wax Plant Monkey Plant Parlor Palm Impatiens Zinnis
Jade Plant Mother of Pearl Pepperonis
Japanese Aralias Natal Plum Petunia
Piggyback Plant Staghorn Fern
Pink Polka-Dot Plant Swedish Ivy
Ponytail Plant Tree Mallow
Prayer Plant Velvet Plant
Purple Passion/Purple Violet Wandering Jew
Spider Plant Zebra Planty
Temperatures
Ok on temps there is a lot of different temps for Chameleons depending on what species you have. Here are a couple of temp’s ranges for three of them:
Jackson Chameleons
The basking spot for these guys should be in the 80 to 85 degree Fahrenheit range. Ok the all around temps in the Enclosure should be in the between 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit and the night time temps should not drop any lower then 65 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
Panther Chameleons
The basking spot for these guys should be the range of 90 to 98 degrees Fahrenheit.
Now in the all round temperatures for the enclosure 80 to 88 degrees ranger and the night time temps should not drop under 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
Veiled Chameleons
Ok these guys from what I read like it hot the basking spot can be between 90 to 100 degrees in the basking spot. Now in the all around temperatures should be between 80 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit. Now at night time the same thing goes should not fall below 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
WARNING!!!!!!!!! This is just what I have read! I do recommend you do the research on the species you have so you can get the correct information on your Chameleon
Feeding
Ok Chameleons like to eat insects but then again some like to eat vegetation as well so here are some things they like to eat. I recommend the you do some research on there Diets so you know what to feed them
1. Crickets
2. Stick bugs
3. Super worms
4. Pinky mice (research this is recommend not all Chameleon eat this)
5. Vegetation (research is recommended)
Make sure they get a calcium supplement when feeding!
Now when it comes down to water in their enclosure which most animal need to serve. From what I have read not to many Chameleons drink out of water dish they get most of the water off of leaves in the enclosure or like in a dripping affect this can be done in a couple of ways.
1. You misting the enclosure a couple of times a day
2. Misting system can be built and used (research is recommended)
3. Or you can put a drip system in (research is recommended)
Like what was said at the beginning this is what I have read on them they are a lot of defend species of Chameleons and it is RECOMMENDED! That you research the species that you have for the best possible care sheet that is out there. This is just a little bet of information that I have read. If you have anything to add or a better care sheet that you would not mind being use here the e-mail or pm me and I will research it and use it!!!!
