Just wanted to stop in and say hello to everyone. Yes, we're addicted to Iguanas. I got my first Iguana about 10 years ago after it was abandoned at a local pet shop with a note telling the owner they couldn't keep the poor lizard. When I found him he was in a terrible state of neglect but I was able to bring him back to full health with alot of TLC. Unfortunately, I lost "Louis" last year due to inhalation of paint fumes from having the house repainted. It was a terrible loss to put it mildly as I brought him to Florida twice and back. We were great friends and I miss him to this day.
But, fast forward to today and we currently have 3 iguanas. The first we got about 10 months ago. He was a young iguana and is very healthy and full of spunk. Today we stopped in a pet shop and there were two iguanas in an aquarium in the back. One was very green and healthy looking, but the second had little to no color except grey and many of his toes are broken and disfigured along with a bent and kinked tail that has been broken off before.
We couldn't leave them in the pet shop, so we ended up buying both and bringing them home. It's amazing what a little TLC can do for these critters because the grey one has already started getting green again and is perking up considerably. Both are also very tame and can be handled easily, so that's a bonus.
We still haven't named these two yet, but the youngest one's name is "Emeril". I don't know why, but that name just seemed to stick I guess because he has the temperament of the southern chef who goes by that name.
Anyways, sorry about the long rant, just thought I'd give y'all a little bit of background on our experiences with these wonderful lizards.
I look forward to making many new friends here and hope to learn even more about these critters as time goes on.
Later,
Bri
