My name is Tonia. I am a 33 year old mother of one human child, and nine furry, feathered, and scaled children. We have two dogs, two cats, an iguana, a guinea pig, a lion head rabbit, and two parakeets. Seems like a lot but I have plenty room in my heart and home for more. My Iguana's name is Rex. He is a large, male, green iguana. At last measure he was 5ft 1in from snout to end of tail. I have had him for five years now. I got him from a local pet shop. I had originally went in to get a tarantula but they were out. I was just looking around the shop and saw him all by himself in a aquarium. There was this annoying young boy banging on the glass and begging him mom to get him. She looked like she was about to give in but I beat her to it. I just couldn't stand the thought of the poor lil guy going home with that boy. He wouldn't have lasted out the week. By the time I walked out of the store I felt like I bought half the store. lol. I got him everything he could need. We have been together ever since. He is very tame with me. He has never been agressive, except mating season. I have read over and over that reptiles do not have feelings such as love, but I don't believe it. I know he loves me, and he knows I love him back. Here is a pic of him. He is my big beast. He likes to lay on my pillow in the sun.

Great intro! You do have a small zoo rising. Sometimes I think I could have that few again. I only have 7 personal pets and about 15 fosters animals. My 2 kids are grown and moved on. So me and dh (dear husband) take care of the beasts. I do all the feeding and cleaning - he does socializing with the dogs, but leaves the exotics to me.
I'm not sure love would be the right word...but a deep trust...yes. He knows he's safe with you and finds comfort in that safety. You have provided him with a sanctuary and he has responded to that with a bonding. Too bad more don't realize the depth at which iguanas can take that bond.
You seem to have spoiled him quite well... ;D. Kudos to you!

That's a great setup for your Iggy. I had something similar for my green's when they were still alive.
