Has anyone else experienced not being able to log onto the forum today? Which is Wednesday May 9th, 2007?
If so let me know. I am thinking I was the only one having trouble. Hydro has been on and off here so sorry I didn't make chat again.

yes I am on dial up and that could be the problem. Lots of our members have a hard time getting into the chats and that is because of a firewall conflict.
But getting onto the forum its self has been difficult for me a few times this week. Thanks for the input

I'm on dial-up, too...at home anyway. Work is broadband. I didn't log on at home...I often don't anymore. The slowness of my home pc drives me to want to commit computer homicide via flight through a window!

Obviously the chat isn't working for everyone. Not only that, but it's very confusing thinking what's on the main page was the chat area when in fact it's behind the "black button" at the top and bottom of the page. I'm sure there are ways to get it past firewalls and such, but there are people who come in and get frustrated when no one answers them because everyone else is in the "real" chat room. Is there any way to remedy this? I would love to be able to pop in once in awhile...as I know others would.

I am not to sure. I think we may have to set up another chatroom somewhere. We use the proboard chat for our black button chat. I could take the chat box out and then just leave the forum to be the forum. Maybe there is a way to get the proboard chat to appear on our main page. But then some people won't be able to get into the forum because there firewalls block the chat. Anyone know about this?

sorry for sticking my nose in but i might be able to help (its my job lol) i have built (and run) a few other forums and should be able to write you a code that will allow you a "chat" button on the main board. Whether you want to run an "external" chat room or an "in house" proboards one, both should be pretty easy to sort. Although, proboards does have trouble allowing "shout boxes" as the coding interfers with others already set up on the board. Let me know if you want me to help, i wont be offended if you tell me to bog off and mind my own business lol

Twiggie! That's a wonderful offer! No bogging off! I think you and Cham can get together and make something much more user friendly...:-D

Hey there, we already have a chat button at the top and bottom of the site. It takes us to a Java chat. And a lot of people have a hard time getting into it. Weather it be a firewall problem or just the site not working for them. But it has been a big issue for a log of people. Worked just fine for me the whole time, but one of our other Mods had to turn off her firewall to log on and turn it back on after. This is our problem. Can you meet us in chat tomorrow nite? that is 9PM Eastern time. Then we can talk about it. Or you can email me at a1969gtogirl@hotmail.com and put PATRICKS IGUANA in the subject, because I don't open things I don't know. THanks
