Taylor is a 13 year old Mare Quarterhorse/Paint cross. She stands 15.2 hands tall and has a great personality. She is a Doc Bar bloodline. She is also registered with APHA. We just got her today and she gets a long great with Winston. Taylor belonged to a girl that just left for college. Her mother didn't want to have to be responsible for her so she gave Taylor to us.

We found a guy local to us that has a homozygous black and white paint/QH stud. He will charge us 500 to breed him to our mare. It is 100% chance on Taylor having a black/white paint foal. I think next year we are going to do that. I've always wanted a black/white paint. They are so awesome looking. Then I can have a horse that is mine and not my wife's lol.

She is beautiful also! She looks happy there too. Don't they call those "homozygous blacks" "black overo's" or something? I went to a paint breeding farm and thats what they called there male black and white paint who was gaurenteed to throw a black and white baby to other paints no matter the color. I'd have to agree with you and take the plunge. Black and white pants are my FAV they are sooo majestic looking. The paint tends to have a lot of fire in there britches though. Also stubbron at times. I'd just make sure she checks out in a few months with no problems (could be underlying problems that the old owners failed to mention) and she should be a good breeder for you. I'm sure the baby will be stunning. You'll have to tell us what you decide to do. Good luck with them all though. Could you post some pictures of Winstons foot please. Where its coming apart. I am curious to see it. TY

A true homozygous paint horse is always called a Tobiano or Homozygous Tobiano. I've also heard them called a Black Tovero but the Tobiano is the correct term.
One of the reasons why I mentioned waiting until next year to breed her was to make sure she is sound. I figure after a year we should have found any problems she may have.
I will take a few pics of Winston's hoof tomorrow morning during feed time. It's too dark right now. I'll get them posted up as soon as I take them tomorrow.

I had forgotten my wife has Winston's hoof and leg wrapped up. I won't be able to take a picture until she changes it later today.
