Here is Bella our new flea bitten horse. She is well trained and rides great. Needs an intermediate rider though because she likes to go fast. As you can see she was sticking her tongue out at me for taking the picture of her hehe. My wife and I are debating on whether or not she is an appaloosa flea bit. The woman that gave her to us says she thinks she is a quarterhorse but she is not as stocky as most QH's I've seen. Next up is Jasper the mule. He's about 16 hands and quite friendly. He is dead broke and very easy to ride.

Hey there, that is not a typical mule as we in Canada say. But in my opinion he does not look like a mule. He very well could be though as I am not educated in mules! lol Unless he is half donkey and half horse. They are both good looking physically from the pictures. Other than the top picture something looks funky about her right back leg (in the picture it would be her left leg) As for the color of your mare. MMM I've been reading and this site says this for "flea bitten" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gray_(horse) But those spots deffinatly don't look reddish in color. According to this chart it is a LIGHT flea bitten gray www.angelfire.com/tx2/kidshorses/colorchart.html this is a good color indicator to. lovedagoldens.deviantart.com/art/Horse-Color-Chart-58091545 But she could very well be a mixed. Lightly marked appy or a grey marked flea. Its so hard to tell with the horses you don't know the parents or any history on them. As for her being a QH she could be but with some Arabian or something mixed in along the lines. Just never know expecially with a horse you don't know the parents. But it could come from past genes as well. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!!

Just so you know. A mule is a cross between a Jack (Donkey stallion) and a horse mare. A Hinnie is a stallion horse crossed to a donkey jennet. Mules and Hinnie's are sterile. So the only way to get a mule is by breeding a horse to a donkey. The lady we got him from has both parents on the premises. You can see his mane doesn't sit like a regular horse. It's more like a donkey. Unfortunately the picture I took of him you can't see his face good. He looks just like a mule. And if you could hear him when he's talking there wouldn't be a doubt in your mind lol. Here is a great article on Mules/Hinnies: www.lovelongears.com/about_mules.html Bella's back leg in the picture is just from the wierd angle of the camera. She stands perfectly fine. My wife says thanks for the links. We are going to read all of them. We had wondered about her being appy because a lot of people see her and tell us she is a leopard appaloosa due to the striping on her hooves. Her spots are a mix of black and dark reddish color. You can't really tell by this picture because it's too far away. The other thing is her skin pigment is spotted also. You can see it at her nose in the picture.

Hey there, Yes I knew the bit about the jack & horse mix to get a mule. To me in that picture he just looks like a pony though. I'm sure you are right, I was just saying from the picture He is still cute no matter what. Bella is a beautiful girl, it is hard sometimes to get the EXACT color of some lightly or heavily colored spots as there are standards for each and its hard to know which is which with out being an expert. Hope you figure out what colour she is though. Make sure you let us know what you figure out AND tell your wife I said HI
