Hi all, My granddaughter brought over a sunflower plant, which is doing well in the backyard, the leaves on the stock of the plant are huge, and the first thing I thought of was Iggypop might enjoy them, I looked them up , they are on the safe plant list , but I'm afraid to try them. Help

Sorry to take so long. The only thing I could find about eating the leaves is that it can be used as fodder for cattle. So it most likely not toxic but I couldn't find it's nutritional composition. Hibiscus leaves have a Ca: P of 3.2:1 though.

Marie , would you try them? also our neighbor in the back is growing pumpkins and the leaves (vine )are coming over the wall, the leaves look so inviting if I were an Ig, I can't believe i'm starting to think that way when I see a plant and its leaves, I think I'm sick. well I haven't looked up pumpkin leaves yet .but I will, My thought is if they can eat a squash why not their leaves? thanks for your help still not sure if I'll try the sunflower leaves.

Actually, I might be willing to try them. But probably wouldn't give them to my igs. The nutitional content between the flower and the leaves can be different. With Hibiscus the flower is like 1:7 but the leaves 3.3:1 Ca: P.
