It's with a sad heart that I have to put our 3 year old male iguana, Iggy, up for adoption.
We've had him since Aug. 8, 2002. He was won, by a relative, in a game at the Pennsylvania State Fair and given to my son when we were not present.
We've tried to make the bestof it , being the animal lovers that we are, but it's just gotten to a point where we are not longer able to care for him.
He is approx. 3 years old 65" STL 9.7 LBS. Free Roaming Tub trained Very Loved and Lovingly cared for
He is just about finished with his 2nd season and will be available when he's back to his ole sweet self. He is normally very laid back and mellow. Has never bitten and only had two accidents when he couldn't get access to the tub. (he got closed into a room and couldn't get the door open) His favorite food is Wheat bread, green beans and rasberries. He's currently on a 7:00 - 7:00 schedule (give or take 1/2 hour) Up until recently he has been held, touched, clipped, rubbed and talked to several times a day. He likes to watch animal planet and cartoon. He'll watch discovery channel if he has too. Mostly likes hanging out in the spare room (his main area) or across the hall in my sons room where he has 2 windows to watch traffic from.
He has had yearly vet visits and was in just last week. He has no parasites but had developed an algea problem since he's discovered that he LOVES tubbing and never wants to get out. He has gotten himself SO hydrated that when he went from moist to warm basking temps it caused this algea problem. We've been treating him with Providine/Iodine baths and SSD ointment for the past week. (1% Silver Sulfadiazine cream)
- All his belongings will go with him. - We will not ship him but would be willing to drive 1/2 way if it's not too far.
Seriously interested parties can message me here.
Thanks Renee'

I don't know much about her. I just seen her post about wanting an iguana in Illinois. I think she has some boys.

Update: Talked with a women in IL. for some time . In my last message I mentioned getting together and possible dates and then the communication stopped. and it seemed like such a good fit. Oh well, hope everything on her end is ok. Had a note from a guy in Canada but I just can't do that long of a travel right now. Iggy is getting better and shows signs daily of getting back to his old sweet self. You can tell it's definately a male dominance thing tho. lol He's all lovie with me and then gets all puffed up and scary when my husband comes around like "NO she's mine" It's SOooo comical all puffed up, up on his toes, stinked eyed and leaning sidways trying to show his girth. LMAO ! ! ! I'm waiting for him to fall over He just had a MAJOR shedding and his tail looks like it's going for another round of it. He's really loving his baths ! and his appitite is back up to 3 plates a day. My neighbor (older women) is secretly crossing her fingers that he stays. She's SO intreged with him. 4 more days until Roberts surgery. Hang in there honey, Relief is in site .

Hey Thanks Patrick (and everyone). Roberts surgery was on Wed 5/25. They ended up having to do an extra procedure (45 min.) because the septum was in the way and they couldn't get the scope through that petite little nose of his. LOL They did find the mass of infection in his right sinus cavity behind the right optical globe and removed it. He was suppose to go in and do the center sinus cavity but we think they bypassed that because of the additional work they had to do. Maybe at a later date if there's still trouble. He had the lowest set of packing removed on Friday and will be back in on Wed. to get the rest of it that's way up there. Ya, Iggy is still looking for a home. I have some new photo's I just took that I'll send you. I haven't heard anymore from the gal that was out here. I'll give her one more try but I think I might of scared her off somehow or maybe she just didn't know what to expect from an adult male iguana.

Well, Iggy is still here and we're still looking. It didn't work out with the guy at work but another co-worker put me in touch with another guy from a reptile rescue. That also fell threw because Ig was a free roamer. They also gave me info to two pet stores but I really don't want to go there.
Two days ago, when I came home from work, my husband informed me that Iggy chased him out of the house. LMAO 10 lbs. vs. 200 lbs. I don't know who's playing it up more him or the lizard. At this point I think they are just afraid of eachother and in the middle of an argument that's not getting resolved. Looks like I'm going to have to step in and have a talk with the two of them. Iggy has also broken about an inch off the bottom of his tail. It's slightly off a bit and dark. I can't tell by how much but I'm keeping an eye on it......as the lizard turns. lol

Well I'm glad the surgery went well and seems if he can run out of the house that recovery is going well.
It is sad that he and the igg can't work things out. Maybe its a dominance thing or maybe one of them is more afraid of the other. But who can tell. I am really hoping that you can find a great home for your igg, sounds like a great guy other than whats happened since I've heard about him.
Wishing you all luck!
Stephanie
